Emerging from northern Portugal in the formative years of the second wave of black metal, Angrenost has been defined not by output but by its unorthodox evolution. With roots planted by Pursan and A. Ara, the project has been a vessel for exploring the evil within man, free from the constraints of the prevailing scene or current trends.
The reunion of Pursan with A. Ara, alongside Erdsaf and M. Skúlason, has yielded Angrenost’s most mature and inspired offering to date: Magna Lua Ordem Mística ("The Mystical Order of the Great Moon"). A work full of bygone tradition, elevated by a mastery of sound, as well as words and spirit that make it shine with a distinct light.
The album invites listeners to walk a contemplative path across the ephemeral nature of existence. It is a narrative of humanity’s voyage from the still waters of the immaterial plane into the mortal sphere of chaos and corruption – a world where the celestial bond fractures and the soul of Man encounters raw embodiments of the diabolical.
Magna Lua Ordem Mística stands at the crossroads of tradition and modernity, blending esoteric lore with the intricacies of composition. It represents a sincere and powerful display of everything that makes black metal an obscure and sinister art form.

2019, the end of a cycle: A pinnacle in our approach to what a ceremony should be, especially on the occasion of "Les Feux de Beltane" (The Fires of Beltane). The lands of Brittany always provide us with the energy and the perfect setting for letting go and immersing ourselves completely in our Art.
Each of our ceremonies has marked a milestone in our congregation since that time. Les Feux de Beltane was marked by the replacement of Kristik A.K. with Vagus Nox. "Et il n'y aura plus de nuit" was Messiatanik Armrek's final ceremony after more than 18 years of ignominious activism. Since then, he has taken a different path and now follows a different light.
It was also during that same year, at "Et il n'y aura plus de nuit", that we had the honor of introducing Dehn Sora on stage, handling the machines and percussions. Dehn Sora was already known for his remarkable visual work on our previous album, "Fils de Dieu".
Our last ceremony in January 2020 marked the arrival of Eurnnath Nefast on bass. We then delved into our inner selves to find necessary rest, and the health crisis was conducive to that. Our resilience was tested until the last minute before entering the studio in July 2021. We left as five and arrived at the gates of studio Kerwax as four. Vagus Nox had fallen into a vortex from which we are still not certain he has returned to this day.
In this context, fraught with obstacles and challenges, it is within ourselves that we found the energy and inspiration to compose and present you this new offering, "Et Facta Est Lux". This fourth album marks the end of an era, both personally and artistically. Would it be possible at all to separate the two?
Just like our previous works, a dynamic of improvisation remains at the core of our creative endeavors. The process has been enriched by numerous additions of instruments and sounds, brought by the fresh blood that has joined our congregation as well as this unique place that is the Kerwax studio. The sound palette of Sektarism has thus evolved, heaviness being still at the heart of the orchestration. "Et Facta Est Lux" continues our work with a sense of greater maturity and mastery while retaining that element of insecurity and urgency that is inseparable from the context of improvised live recordings.
Some will find light in it, while others will find darkness. For us, it is the very essence of who we are. This work is the result of hard labor and has been born out of pain. For without that, can we truly speak of Art?

By their hammer let none be saved – Misþyrming return to lay down the law. Með hamri is the sound of the iron heel of Black Metal trampling the face of musical modernity.Með hamri is deeply saturated with the vibrantly alive energy that Misþyrming capture so effectively on stage. The drums sound organic and powerful, the guitar distortion has a vicious bite, and D.G.’s vocals are as brutal and evocative as ever. The underlying spirit is one of action. There is melancholy, bitterness, and filth, but one of the album’s foremost characteristics is its relentless surge of determination. Never before have Misþyrming sounded livelier and more confrontational. In the band’s own words:Authentic and genuine, entirely devoid of gimmicks, Með hamri is a celebration of violence and excess. Arrogant, vitriolic, and with contemptuous disregard for your every sensibility, this album is our statement against all that is false and vain in today’s underground scene. With the timeless values of true metal woven into its very fabric – unironic and unapologetic – this is the Devil’s music made manifest. There is plenty of room for nuance and subtlety in Black Metal, but the hammer leaves no room for interpretation.Misþyrming on NoEvDiaMisþyrming on Bandcamp
Due to circumstances beyond our reach, we are no longer able to press this release in the form it has existed so far - including the laser etching that was featured on the b-side of the vinyl. We decided to fully re-brand the release with Dávid Glomba with less cryptic optics yet more visceral and eschatologically visions to echo the terrifying call for repentance at the end of times.
In this re-press rather than the etching, the B-side vinyl will include an alternative version of “Purging Tongues”.
Gloss gatefold, black 12'' vinyl, padded innersleeve.
“To be shunned by all...as centres of Pestilence”, the sophomore album of Germany’s Kathaaria, took fourteen years to manifest. In 2008, when EAL released the band’s debut, we were proud to support an act that wasn’t musically predictable. Perhaps the guitarwork hinted somewhat towards the most forward-thinking acts of the time, and a general affinity for the weird. In any case, the record was deeply personal and entirely unaffiliated with any currents or trends. Black Metal done by people who know their metal but refuse to abide by conventions.
In a nutshell, this blatant disregard for norms and expectations is precisely what “To be shunned by all...as centres of Pestilence” is about. It’s an album that falls into no fixed category besides the one reserved for highly personal takes on Black Metal.
The vocals veritably jump at your throat, the organic drum sound delivers barrages of artillery sprinkled with surprising ideas, and the guitars… well, it’s simply a pleasure to witness such a relentless riff delivery, never short on daring ventures. It’s evident that both members – likely due to their involvement with other touring bands – have grown immensely as musicians over the past decade. Their instrumental mastery turns “To be shunned by all...” into a masterclass of extreme underground metal.
There’s a lot that comes over as very real on this record: the sound, the songwriting, and the overall performance. The spirit is not one of today – its roots lie elsewhere. And most importantly, sincere. So, “To be shunned by all...as centres of Pestilence” is Kathaaria’s epitaph. We’re left with a peculiar legacy in the realm of German Black Metal.

“Adumbration of the Veiled Logos” is but a 58-minute interpretation of the ungraspable numinous from five angles. It speaks of the shrouded paradox of divine desolation—twining ferocity, solemnity and utter immensity through the coalescence of black and death metal.
Two years from intention to completion and recorded across two diametrically opposed continents, Verberis’ sophomore album is a work that has undergone yet further refinement from 2018’s “Vorant Gnosis” EP, and the band's antipodean wellspring.
An evolution spurred by the clearing of vision and honing in upon the specific essences most relevant to it, “Adumbration of the Veiled Logos” is a monument whose aural intensity is matched both by the arresting artwork of Ars Alchymiae as well as the album’s metaphysical subject matter.
As with the preceding EP, the foundations of “Adumbration of the Veiled Logos” were received by DA (guitars) and then actualised through the indispensable expertise of JSM (percussion), NH (vocals) and MP (bass).
When it comes to Russian Black Metal, there are few bands more iconic than Blackdeath. The progression within their discography is remarkable, quite frankly: a linear evolution starting with the most primitive of monochord black noise, then gradually morphing into the orchestral swarm of blades that is today’s incarnation. Constantly pummelling the boundaries of their own limits, for ten albums straight now.
The new album is not only different to its predecessor, “Phantasmhassgorie”, but also from everything else they’ve done. “Also sprach das Chaos” consists of two songs: 14 and 19 minutes, respectively. Both as glacial and hostile as the Russian winter, with a plethora of surprises lurking in the icy darkness.
Considering the peculiar spirit of some arrangements… perhaps distant kin to what one might have expected from early-90s Master’s Hammer? Or is that the bite of Laibach? Or even a scar left by the wildest era of Einstürzende Neubauten? Nonetheless, make no mistake here: experimental as it may be, we’re still talking fiercely unapologetic underground Black Metal. But one that acknowledges no limit in spirit. We are proud to release this album on EAL Productions.
Blackdeath regards “Also sprach das Chaos” as a play of sorts. The band commented:
‘The main song is actually the second one, "Im Labyrinth”. It’s a poetic description of an Anti-Cosmic mystery. The narrator, a dead man, performs the initiation rite - the ultimate goal of which is liberation from the laws of Cosmos. The first track, "Paralysiertes Äquinoktium" ("Paralyzed Equinox") is a kind of sequel which narrates the resulting cosmic collapse.’
Blackdeath are currently gearing up to enact their sinister tale on the road, once the world starts opening up again. After extensive touring and numerous festival dates since their live debut in 1997, this forced hiatus has left them hungrier than ever.
Calculating and cruel, steeped in an ambiance of controlled fury, the nine tracks offer a jarring journey through the haunted recesses of the mortal mind. They are violent and hypnotic, but also bring out the occasional demented melody to keep things unpredictable. The lyrics - manic demonological verses that read as the album sounds - are roared, chanted, moaned and snarled with equal parts conviction and possession.
All combined, this results in a soundscape which, whilst firmly rooted in the death metal tradition, is thoroughly imbued with a theatrical vibe and spiritual depth more associated with black metal. The Broken Seal is a unique fusion of musical worlds, concocted to plague the reality of flesh.
